Frequently Asked Questions

Do I come back to Haven for my postpartum visits?

Yes. Your follow-up visits are with our midwifery team at the birth center. We can offer an at-home nurse visit 24 to 48 hours after birth for anyone who lives within 30 minutes of Haven.

Who checks my baby after we go home?

You will have your first postpartum visit 24 to 48 hours after birth. After the initial visit, your midwife checks your baby at your follow-up visits. We also recommend choosing a pediatrician before birth, and we're happy to suggest local options.

Can I get postpartum care at Haven if I gave birth somewhere else?

Yes! Even if you transfer out of care and give birth elsewhere, such as a hospital, we would love for you to continue your postpartum care with us.

When can I start birth control?

We'll talk about your options at your six-week visit, or sooner if you'd like.
